ScopeA Restoration and Renewal Programme has been established to tackle the significant work that needs to be done to protect the heritage of the Palace of Westminster and ensure it can continue to serve as home to the UK Parliament in the 21st century and beyond.
BB7 were appointed on The Palace of Westminster, basement fire safety improvement works in the role of Technical Design Consultant and Principle Designer Services.
Our RoleOur role is to plan, manage, monitor and coordinate health and safety in the pre-construction phase. We take account of relevant information (such as an existing health and safety file) that might affect design work carried out both before and after the construction phase.
We are helping and advising CBRE in bringing together pre-construction information, to ensure the information designers and contractors need to carry out their duties is available.
Benefits of ServiceBB7 is supporting CBRE with two of our most senior consultants. Gary Marlow and Peter Wise have complementary skills sets stemming from their former careers in Building Control and London Fire Brigade.
Our Associate Director, Gary Marlow is also a Chartered Surveyor and brings a sound knowledge of building pathology and construction technology. Having spent his early career checking plans for compliance with the Building Regulations and inspecting works onsite.
Senior Fire Engineer, Peter Wise had a long and distinguished career in the Fire Service. He remained an operational officer throughout his career. He had responsibility for developing fire safety policy, working on legal enforcement cases and the design approval for many significant buildings in London. He was seconded to both London Underground and BAA.
Peter has also worked at the DCLG providing support and advice to Ministers, the Governments Chief Fire and Rescue Adviser, and civil servants. Gary and Peter a huge asset on this project which is scheduled to run for 30 months.
